Banana Moon Day Nursery was started in 2006 as a result of the difficulties encountered by one of our directors when trying to place his own children in what he considered to be a really good quality day nursery. It soon became clear that the standards he required could not be met by any of the childcare businesses he visited, as a result of which the decision was taken to open his own nursery.
The results were immediate; parents realised that there was a real difference with a Banana Moon nursery, the setting was better, the experience was second to none, and – most importantly – their children were happier. Parents began recommending Banana Moon to their friends and family. Within the first year the nursery was almost full, and so a second nursery was opened to serve the increasing local demand and within just a few months both nurseries were being recognised as the best in Warwickshire.
As the demand started to come from further afield, the decision was taken to franchise the business, and the franchise was launched in October 2010. Within the first year, 10 franchisees had signed up to open their own franchised Banana Moon Nursery, and now new franchisees are joining every month. It is a real success story, but the original ethos of the founder remains – it is all about the children.
